Multiplication Facts Bingo

Call out times-table questions while students mark the answers on their bingo cards.

Learning outcomes

  • Recall multiplication facts quickly
  • Match a question to its product
  • Check answers against a key

What you need

  • Bingo cards printed with products
  • A Times Tables Shuffled Practice sheet and key for calling questions
  • Counters

Puzzle tools used

All tools are free, with no sign-up, and every sheet can be printed with an answer key.

Step by step

  1. Choose the facts to practise (for example the 6, 7 and 8 times tables). List some of their products, such as 12, 18, 21, 24, 28, 32 and more, and paste them into the Bingo tool as My own list.
  2. Generate and print cards. Each card has different products in a different order.
  3. Use a Shuffled Practice sheet to call questions, such as 6 x 7. Students find 42 on their card and mark it.
  4. Check winners by reading back each question and answer.
  5. Finish by asking which facts felt slow.

Differentiation

Support

Use only the 2, 5 and 10 times tables, and let students use a table chart.

Extend

Mix in division questions and ask students to say the related multiplication fact.

Discussion questions

  • Which fact was hardest to find?
  • Which two questions have the same answer?
  • How could you work out a fact you forget?

What to look for

Students find answers quickly without counting on fingers and can explain a strategy.

Frequently asked questions

How many products do I need?

At least 24 different products for a 5 x 5 card. Include 6 to 8 more than you need so cards differ.

Can I use other operations?

Yes. Paste any list of answers and call questions for addition, division or fractions.
